BJDS is fortunate to have
such excellent teachers, who engage in and put forth great effort in the
classroom. All teachers continuously participate and remain involved in the

Shoshana
Krongold Bilavsky
Head of School |
“My vision for the Boulder Jewish Day School is a progressive, growing,
independent school, where academic excellence and commitment to Jewish
tradition and learning are integrated in a supportive, positive learning
environment.”
Shoshi spent the last ten years teaching and directing Judaic studies at
the Solomon Schechter Day School in Memphis, Tennessee, and the Agnon
Day School in Beachwood, Ohio. In her most recent position, she
supervised ten Judaic studies teachers and oversaw the implementation of
an integrated curriculum. Shoshi holds a Masters in Judaic studies with
an emphasis on Bible and Jewish Education from the Laura and Alvin
Siegal College of Judaic Studies in Cleveland. She says, however, that
her real education occurred in Ashkelon, Israel, while she worked as a
director of the Jewish Agency’s Project Renewal, improving living
conditions in underprivileged neighborhoods. Her interactions ranged
from drawing up plans with residents to making presentations to Knesset
committees.

Yonat Elkon-Lev

Yonat is a former Media Buyer and Planner for Tamir-Cohen, a Tel Aviv
Advertising Firm.
Yonat has served on the BJDS Board of Directors and has three children.
Of her two school-age children, one is an alumna of the school and one
is currently enrolled at BJDS. Yonat holds a BA in
Special Needs Education from Haifa University.

Cynthia London

Cynthia spent ten years with the Civil Rights Division of the
U.S. Department of Justice. Both of her children attend BJDS. Cynthia
holds a BA in International Relations from the American University in
Washington, D.C.

Elana
Naftalin-Kelman
Early Childhood Director |
Elana Naftalin-Kelman and her family, husband Adam and two sons,
Yair and Nevo moved to Boulder two years ago. She is a graduate of
University of California at Santa Cruz and spent many years studying
in Israel. She has a masters in early childhood special education
from Bank Street College of education and a masters in Social Work
from Columbia University. Since graduate school she taught for
several years as a special education pre-school teacher in the Los
Angeles Unified School District. She also has taught many courses
about Jewish education, Jewish special education and Jewish early
childhood education at various venues around California. She
currently directs the summer program for children with special needs
at Camp Ramah in California. Elana is excited to be working for the
Boulder Jewish Day School.

Chandra Caylor is
a Boulder native, Chandra lives with her husband and three children in
Longmont. She has been a lead preschool teacher at a Longmont
non-profit preschool off and on for ten years. In between, she
completed her MA in Sociology at CSU and began raising her children.
She fell in love with the school's warmth and philosophy when enrolling
her youngest son into Rebecca's class and is thrilled that preschool
enrollment grew by an entire class size giving her the opportunity to
join such a quality program and return to her love of teaching.

Jill Green
Preschool Assistant Teacher |
|
Jill Green grew
up in Miami, FL and graduated from Hofstra University in Long Island, NY
with B.A. in Art, minor in Psychology. She also has a post B.A. in Art
education from the School of Visual Arts in NYC and studied art therapy
at C.W. Post University. She has a diversified background working in
publishing, public relations, real estate, teaching, and being a teacher
as well. She was also the supervisor at Long Island Children’s Museum,
NY, creating hands on projects in arts and sciences for children ages
infant-12 years old. She has taught children with learning
disabilities, as well as schooled two of her own children with
disabilities successfully. She is looking forward to being part of the
pre-school team for the first time this year.

Shannon Rohlman

Shannon
grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where her educational roots began at her
synagogue, United Hebrew. Upon returned from an extended high school
trip to Israel, Shannon knew that she must stay connected and
committed. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree and
teaching license in Elementary Education with a focus in English from
Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. There, she was the president of
Student Environmental Action Coalition and was involved in the campus
recycling initiative. She worked as a special education assistant for a
middle school, followed by substitute teaching k-8th grade in Peoria.
She and her husband decided it was time for a big change! They moved to
Denver to be close to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. She taught
intermediate leveled classes, Title I reading, and computer technology
at Hillel Academy. Her favorite project at Hillel was working on the
Science Expo! Shannon absolutely loves to teach and looks forward to the
“aha!” moments that her students have. Shannon uses the constructive
teaching model, in which students are actively engaged and construct
their own meaning from educational experiences. She is very excited to
continue her teaching career at Boulder Jewish Day School. Her hobbies
include cooking, music, traveling, Scrabble, and going to dog parks with
their lab mix Zimbra. |

Corrie Rubin

Corrie
graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary
Education in 2000. While she was there, she was also able to
obtain a minor in English. After college, she ventured to Chicago
to teach Kindergarten for the next five years. She recently moved
to Colorado to pursue a dream of living in the mountains. Corrie
has found that she loves to ski, bike, hike, and much more!
She
is so excited to be able to teach the Kindergarten and First Grade students at BJDS.
Corrie loves the family orientation that this school exudes, and she is
looking forward to a great year!

Tracey
Trammell
Preschool Teacher |
|
Tracey is
originally from southern California where she received her early
childhood certification. She has worked both as a teacher and a
licensed center director for the past twelve years. She moved to
Colorado in 2007 and is now licensed in Colorado to be a center
director. She enjoys spending free time with her two daughters and
husband.

Varda Tzur

Varda joined the Boulder
Jewish Day School in 1998. She earned her teaching certificate in Israel
and worked as an elementary and middle school math teacher there for 16
years. She has served as a Hebrew teacher at BJDS, congregation Bonai
Shalom and the Longmont Hebrew School.
Varda keeps her students on
their toes through her creative use of games and props to enliven their
learning experience. Varda emphasizes that her standards are high. She
also believes in the importance of morals in a child's education.

Judi Morosohk
Early Childhood Advisor |
|
Judi Morosohk will be working with the Ealy Childhood staff. She has
worked in the field of early childhood and early childhood/special
education for the past 30 years. Her career has included many years of
working with preschool aged children with special needs as well as
typically developing 2-5 year olds. Judi worked at the Boulder JCC
Preschool for 13 years, 10 of those years as Director and Co-Director,
led the parent/toddler play groups and both preschool and school age
summer camp programs. Over the years she has worked closely with
Boulder County Head Start, as Education Coordinator in the
1980's and more recently, as a literacy coach to teachers and
professional development trainer for the entire staff. Judi is
presently employed by the Early Care and Education Council of Boulder
County as the Professional Development Manager, coordinating and leading
trainings for early care and education providers. She also presents
workshops throughout the state on many topics that help to support high
quality early childhood education. Judi has a particular love of
bringing music and singing into the lives of young children, as
songleader of a weekly Shabbat sing at the Boulder JCC Preschool for 10
years, leader of music activities monthly at the Har HaShem Family
School and presenter at workshops for early childhood teachers on
bringing multicultural and interactive songs into the daily lives of
children in the classroom.

Mitten Lowe

A native Coloradoan, she has returned to her home state after a 4-year
stint in Tucson, Arizona. She returns to the Denver/Boulder area with
her husband, Ethan, whom she met at Colorado State University in Fort
Collins. She has a daughter attending BJDS. Having been very
involved in the Jewish community in Tucson, Mitten is excited and
passionate about getting involved in her new community. She is also
currently studying to get her masters in Non-Profit Management as well
as working as Young Women’s Outreach Chair for Boulder Hadassah. The
Lowe family is very happy to be part of the BJDS family and Mitten is
looking forward to contributing to the school as Volunteer Coordinator.

Scott Slack

Scott Slack has
been a filmmaker and digital artist since his graduation from the Film
and Television program at New York University, where he was among the
first students to participate in the Interactive Telecommunications
Program. Since his time at New York University, he has worked as a
professional editor, filmmaker, installation artist and educator. His
projects have been screened on PBS and at such film festivals as the
International Wildlife Film Festival in Missoula Montana and the Boston
International Film Festival. He also served for 2 years as Executive
Director of Channel 2, Taos Public Access. |
